Orange County's reliable sunshine, pristine beaches, and stunning coastlines have made it an ideal setting for scenes in film and television, reality TV shows, and a variety of special events that require filming and photography.
Famous directors, producers, actors and writers usually flock to nearby Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. Fortunately, there are a number of related film and television jobs that fall "below the radar" where you can hone your creative skills. These jobs are plentiful in Irvine, Anaheim, Newport Beach, and other cities in the O.C.
Film and Television Jobs
Multimedia artists, camera operators, production assistants, sound and visual effects technicians, video editors, and others in television work for a variety of Orange County businesses. These include sports channels like Fox Sports Network, informercial production companies, and reality television shows like "Millionnaire Matchmaker".
Many professionals also find their niche as freelancers and work independently throughout the county.
Film and television directors and producers, although very coveted positions, often work under stress. Their jobs demand that they aim to meet schedules, stay within budget, and are able to resolve personnel and production problems.
Editors, writers, and technicians usually work in offices on studio lots or in other types of production facilities. The stage and sound crews, meanwhile, follow the television show or film wherever it's being shot (whether it be a soundstage or on location).
Part-time and variable schedules are more the norm in film and video than in other industries.
